Press Release-Celebration of the Constitution Day and the National Day in Islamabad

The Embassy of Nepal hosted a reception in Islamabad today to celebrate Nepal’s Constitution Day and National Day.

In his welcoming address, H.E. Mr. Tapas Adhikari, Ambassador of Nepal to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, emphasized the significance of this day in Nepal’s history. He highlighted key aspects of Nepal’s Constitution, including its commitment to democratic norms, human rights, dignity, and principles of equality and equity. Calling the Constitution a forward-looking document, the Ambassador noted several achievements during its nine years of implementation, such as peace, inclusivity, equality, empowerment, and broad-based participation. He stressed the importance of collective effort in achieving economic development and prosperity.

Ambassador Adhikari also underscored the cordial relations between Nepal and Pakistan, characterized by friendship and cooperation. He expressed gratitude to the Government of Pakistan for providing scholarships to Nepali students pursuing degrees in medicine and engineering. The Ambassador further emphasized the need to expand and diversify bilateral relations for the mutual benefit of both nations and their people.

Highlighting Nepal’s natural beauty, rich cultural heritage, and business opportunities, Ambassador Adhikari invited guests to visit Nepal, both to experience its charm and explore investment opportunities.

Speaking as the Chief Guest, H.E. Sardar Awais Khan Leghari, Minister for Energy of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, extended his congratulations and best wishes on behalf of the Government of Pakistan. He also praised the excellent bilateral relations between Nepal and Pakistan and called for continued efforts to strengthen them.

The event was attended by notable figures, including Members of the National Assembly, former ministers, high-ranking civilian and military officials of the Government of Pakistan, and former Pakistani ambassadors to Nepal. Additionally, Ambassadors and High Commissioners to Pakistan, representatives of diplomatic missions and international organizations, friends of Nepal, business leaders, media personnel, and members of the Nepali community, along with Embassy families, were present.

Earlier in the day, the Embassy organized a special programme at its premises. During the event, the Ambassador raised Nepal’s national flag and read a message from the Right Honorable President of Nepal Mr. Ramchandra Paudel. The gathering, which included members of the Nepali community, Embassy staff, and their families, discussed the significance of Constitution Day and various aspects of the Constitution.
